Welcome to Zeis Simmentals and we greatly appreciate your interest in our program.  I have been involved with Simmental cattle for over 40 years and have an ASA number of 7888.  It all started with a 4-H project in the mid-seventies.  Some of my first cows were sired by bulls such as Galant, Bismark and Signal.  Even then we recognized the value of the SimAngus female for her milking ability, fertility and extra performance.  In 1990, we made the switch to blacks with the purchase of a pot load of registered Angus cows from legendary Angus breeder Marty Connealy of Whitman, NE.  These cows were mostly line bred Wye and Craigie and were all bred to Maximizer.  The resulting SimAngus females were the foundation of our herd today and some influential cow families have evolved from those first half bloods.

We have always placed emphasis on the maternal side of things and have applied selection pressure to traits such as fleshing ability, fertility, udder quality and structural soundness.  Most cattle today are still sold on visual appraisal and we demand some eye appeal and look in our cattle as well.  We expect our cows to calve unassisted, breed back in a timely fashion and bring in a big stout calf in the fall with a minimum of fuss or muss.

Our females are marketed in our annual Ladies of the Valley production sale in October in West Point, NE.  Bulls are sold in the J&C bull sale in January and by private treaty.  Our feeder cattle are all fed out here and marketed locally as freezer beef.

Please feel free to contact myself or Clint with any questions about our program and once again thank you for your interest, visitors are always welcome at the farm.
